Do I need three-phase power for an EV charger?

For most homes, no. Most Perth houses run on single-phase power, which supports a 7kW charger, adding roughly 40 to 50km of range per hour. Plug in overnight and you wake up to a full battery. Three-phase unlocks faster chargers, but many EVs cap their AC charging speed anyway, so the extra cost often buys speed you can’t use. We’ll confirm your supply type and give you a straight answer.
You can, but it’s slow, typically around 10 to 15km of range per hour. Fine as a stopgap, frustrating as a daily setup. A dedicated wall charger is several times faster and runs on its own protected circuit, which is the safer way to draw that kind of load every night.
Maybe. An EV charger needs a dedicated circuit with proper safety switch protection, and older or full boards often can’t take one. We assess your switchboard as part of the quote, so any upgrade is priced upfront, not discovered on install day.

charger’s going, and whether the board needs work. Every job gets a fixed quote before
